ERC and IGP are two of the few resorts that have double bed ocean front rooms available, which are amazing and worth it when one can justify the price. If you want an isolated compound style resort, Excellence Riviera Cancun (similarly priced) and Iberostar Grand Paraiso (more expensive) are great options, as well as VIM (less expensive option). RPDC is also a lively resort so it is a lot of fun, and double beds are available up to ocean view rooms. Lots to see, explore and do, and what a night life! Many guests go off resort daily.

It is in a great great location in Playa del Carmen right by the 5th avenue tourist area. I enjoy both types and my preferences changes from trip to trip depending on how I feel, and what I've done the time before.įor in-town style I would recommend The Royal Playa del Carmen a premium AO AI resort. Each type has a different feel and trip experience. I'd recommend first considering what type or resort you want, be it isolated compound style or in-town style. OP, I have done the same type of trip before and there are some good options out there. You're not asking about Cancun, but when we've stayed there we like the RIU Palace Las Americas for the quality of the cuisine, drinks, and staff, and when we want a slightly younger vibe we spend more time at the RIU Cancun next door. Our other favorite resort near Playa is the family-friendly Iberostar Tucan, we like this property for the beach, jungle setting, entertainment, and close proximity to Playa. Great cuisine and drinks as well, and the best staff we've encountered anywhere. The beach depends on the weather, but the entertainment is good for everyone, and weather permitting they have great outdoor parties that are fun. Also a more traditional, hacienda-style decor and a smaller property that is easy to walk. I think you would be very comfortable at Capri. Capri has less of the "younger" crowd vibe with more couples and honeymooners that Silversands appeals to, and more a balanced vibe with both young and "more mature". For an adults only option we like Secrets for the quality, and for a Secrets property I'd look at Capri.
